Outreach

operation christmas childOperation Christmas Child

Our parish is supporting Operation Christmas Child this year by packing shoe boxes full of goodies which will be distributed to children around the world.

At the next meeting of the Ladies Lifeline team on Monday 8th August we will be filling shoeboxes with items for children in need in developing countries.  (Last Christmas, boxes filled by Australians were delivered to children in the Philippines, Fiji, Cambodia and Papua New Guinea.)

We would love your help!  You can assist us by:

* Joining us in the Vestry on Monday 8th August from1.00pm to fill boxes (coffee and sandwiches will be provided!)

AND/OR

* Donating any of the following items - cakes of soap (individually wrapped), face washers, kids socks, kids knickers/undies, caps/bucket hats, small note books/exercise books, grey-lead pencils, erasers, pencil-sharpeners, colored pencils, hair scrunches/clips/ties, toothbrushes, combs, tennis balls or small bouncing balls, small soft toys, Matchbox (or similar) cars, skipping ropes, craft kits, stickers.

(Boxes are packed either for girls or boys in age ranges 2-4, 5-9 and 10-14. Perhaps think about items for a child of a similar age and gender to your own child or grandchild?)

Please note: Items must be new and can be handmade. We suggest sourcing “multi-packs” which can be separated out in to multiple boxes: they are cheaper and go further.  Good places to shop include $2 shops, Big W, Kmart, ALDI and OfficeWorks, especially when items are on sale.

Please avoid food items; playing cards, dice, play money (or anything else that might relate to gambling); religious tracts; items that have a war theme; and toothpaste, crayons or anything else that might leak or melt.
