Baptisms and Thanksgivings
Baptism
We are delighted to welcome children and adults for baptism at Holy Trinity.
In baptism God gives us new birth, adopts us as children and makes us members of the body of Christ, the church. We commit to reject evil and turn our back on ‘sin’ - i.e. wrongdoing and attitudes that hold us back from God. For very small children, the parents, godparents and sponsors do this on the child’s behalf.
The baptism service is a beautiful ceremony, the heart of which involves a person (child or adult) being called by their name as water is poured on their face or body in the name of God. It is intended to show that all the riches and promises of God are for this beloved child, and that a personal relationship with God is possible. It is the beginning of a journey with God that endures for our whole lives.

Thanksgivings
Some parents choose a service of thanksgiving for the birth of their child. This focus of this service is to celebrate the gift of the child and pray for the parents and family. It is slightly more flexible than the baptism service, and can include a naming section if desired.
Our baptism and thanksgiving services are inclusive and child-friendly, often with contributions by family members. In the last couple of years a number of families have included friends and relatives living overseas in the service through FaceTime.
