Introducing Our Vicar

Reverend Ross Duncan

BCom, GradDip Div, GradDipTh, MM(Pastoral Counselling)

20190725 101459Ross was installed as Priest-in-Charge of Holy Trinity on Friday, 23 August 2019.

If you were expecting a Vicar that has followed a normal path into ministry this is not him. Life experience is the key to how the Lord has prepared Ross, and his wife Deb, for ministry.

Originally from Sydney and the south coast of New South Wales, Ross’ past experience includes working as a NSW Police Officer, (Crime Scene Investigation), teaching for NSW and Tasmania TAFEs, and as a general manager in the not for profit sector.

After heeding God’s call, he entered full time ministry as the Chaplaincy Coordinator for the Tasmania Prison Service in February 2007. He entered Holy Orders in 2007.  Ross spent eight years in ministry within the prison service. In the final two years he branched out into other ministry areas working as Priest in Charge (Locum Tenens) in Sandy Bay and Sandford, Bishop’s Chaplain, and Enabler for the Parish of Brighton. During the prison chaplaincy years Ross was an Associate at St David’s Cathedral in Hobart. In 2015, he moved to Nambucca Heads in NSW and became Rector. In late 2017 he was asked to support the ministry at Port Macquarie as Associate in a parish of over 300 parishioners.

Both Ross and Deb have a love for supporting people.  In Hobart they developed close relationships within both the Iraqi and Iranian communities. They have worked closely with Anglicare, Deb being a Board member in two Diocese. They also introduced an Emergency Assistance Scheme and Street Swags for distribution to those in need of shelter. Ross had oversight of a soup kitchen, food bank, community meals and Op Shop services in Nambucca Heads and Port Macquarie parishes.

Ross and Deb are following God’s calling to guide Holy Trinity into a new era of growing disciples for Christ. We know that there are exciting things ahead and we pray that you will join with us on this journey, as we build together a community of faith, hope and love.
